How does Google AdWords work?
It works through a keyword auction that in conjunction with Maximum CPC Bidding vs. Quality Index will determine the position of your ad in the ad list.
Maximum CPC Bid – A bid set to determine the highest amount you are willing to pay for a click on your ad.
Quality Index – An estimate of the quality and relevance of your advertisements, key words and from landing page. Higher quality ads can lead to lower prices and better ad positions.
Another key element of how Google AdWords works is CTR (Click Trough Rate = Click Rate)
CTR – Consists of the number of clicks received by your ad divided by the number of times the ad is shown expressed as a percentage (clicks ÷ impressions = CTR).
Advertising on Google AdWords is very effective and brings very satisfactory results – unless you spend money on the wrong keywords (you can see here the most expensive keywords for advertising on adwords – English version). In short, it depends on the competitiveness of the keywords you choose and the true relevance they have for your company.
How much does it cost to advertise on Google AdWords?
You can invest as much as you want and whenever you want. You can start with a daily budget that you feel comfortable with and adjust it to suit your needs and budget. However, as I already mentioned, it depends on your business area as well as the keywords you chose as the basis for your campaigns.
O average cost of a CPC (Cost Per Click) in Portugal varies between €0.40 and €0.60 but largely depends on the business area.
CPC – Cost-per-click (CPC) bidding means you pay for every click on your ads. In campaigns with CPC bidding, the advertiser sets a maximum cost-per-click bid (or simply “max CPC”), which corresponds to the highest amount they are willing to pay for a click on their ad (unless you are setting bid adjustments or using Enhanced CPC).
What are the forms of ads on Google AdWords?
It is possible to create several types of ads through Google AdWords. It all depends on your objectives, your target audience, where you want to appear and when you want to appear. Strategy, basically! Advertising can then be done in:
- Search Engines – create advertising in text form and reach people who are looking for what you sell;
- Display – create advertising in various formats and reach people across the web based on the relevance of their searches, e.g. Remarketing (these ads can be in text, image and/or video – they can be viewed on the web, in videos, in applications, on gmail, on youtube, on blogger, on google finance and on google maps);
